I'm a recent graduate from VCU and am waiting patiently to begin working at Clifton Gunderson. I love shopping, cooking, and above all the food network. I dream of the old days of athleticism and at times fool myself into thinking I can still run 4 miles without passing out. There comes a time in one’s life where you must realize that you, yourself, are ultimately responsible for your failures and successes in life. If you have the perception that all bad things that come your way are a direct result of others actions then you are blinding yourself to the fact that everything in life happens in accordance with your own behavior, bad or good. It is indeed easier to pass the “blame buck” to somebody else. It’s easier to convince yourself that you are not the one with the problem, that the problem is in society itself. However, if you look around you will notice that everyone around you has to deal with pretty much the same shit as you do. I am not special, I do not deserve a reprieve from life’s hardships. Therefore when I am met with a difficult decision, or have to deal with a painful consequence of a previous error, I must realize that everything that I am experiencing, I brought upon myself. I can not stand someone who lives there entire life believing that their life was a disaster becuase of the actions of other people. We all hold our future in our hands, no one else has the ability to influence our lives more than the experiences of life that we subject ourselves to.
